SAINSBURY’S IS GOING TO SELL VINYL

Sainsbury’s is going to sell vinyl

Sainsbury’s is the latest supermarket to announce plans to stock vinyl in select stores.

From 21st March, 171 of the gigantic chain’s stores will be devoting aisles to classic and contemporary records. The move follows wax-loving footsteps of Tesco, who made a similar move last year.
It’s the first time Sainsbury’s has stocked LPs since the 1980s, and it supports Geri Halliwell’s famed theory that vinyl is “coming back”.
Records on sale include Adele’s ’25’, Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back to Black’ and The Smiths’ ‘The Queen is Dead’. So you won’t be picking up a rare Elle Milano 7” alongside your teabags just yet, but keep an eye out.
“Vinyl is definitely experiencing a revival with demand growing stronger year on year,” says Pete Selby, Sainsbury’s Head of Music and Books. “It is our aim to make the vinyl experience easy and pleasurable for our customers who are ready to re-engage with a format that resonates with them on an emotional level.”  DIY
