OH WONDER - WHITE BLOOD

artworks-000118777411-t1v1sx-original

Een nieuwe maand dus? Ja dat betekend dus een nieuw nummer van Oh Wonder,  en sinds september hebben ze ieder maand een nieuw nummer vrijgegeven.

Wil je overigens meer over het art work weten , daar schrijft de groep over:

"It was such an honour and privilege to connect with Oh Wonder, and we are so delighted to use my brain tumor for something more productive than having it grow in my head! Thank you in so many dimensions - for the music during recovery, for such incredibly kind words and genuine gestures, and of course, for amazing ping-pong skills that highlighted our London trip! We are so grateful. "
"The artwork is a slide of my surgically removed astrocytoma brain tumor tissue that we cut, stained, and imaged. A hematoxylin and eosin stain (H&E stainwas applied, which is commonly used in pathology. In the optical microscopy image, you can see the brain tissue, cross-sections of some capillaries (blood vessels), and erythrocytes (red blood cells) inside. There are also two cells inside the capillary cross-section that resemble leukocytes (white blood cells). The main dark cells in the image are the astrocytes, which are causing the tumor growth and the main tumor mutation in these cells is the IDH1 pathway. This tissue section was cut, stained, and imaged for this process, and it was quite a feeling to hold my own brain tissue! For more previous pathology slides from my initial diagnosis, click here if interested."
