Not content with unleashing one of the summer’s most vibrant pop hits in ‘Wow’, Beck’s gone and followed it up with an over-the-top explosion of colour and majestic imagery in the single’s new video.
A dizzying adventure from the off, it matches the track’s erratic, technicolour tendencies perfectly. Co-directed by Grady Hall and produced alongside visual artists Sam Cannon, Randy Cano, Andy Gregg, David McLeod, John McLaughlin, Jess Rona and Steve Smith, you can stream it below.
“The cumulative effect of viewing images on Instagram and other places online was an influence,” says Beck of ‘Wow’. “Now you can scroll through the most disparate, diverse and fascinating images in the span of minutes. It’s a new form of experiencing visual media. The infinite amount of stuff out there is overwhelming and inspiring in the way that you have a form of expression that is alive and changing every second. Unlike a book or a film, it is continuously flowing, changing and is non-linear.” Which is a nice, positive spin on a topic usually reserved for the grumpy side of life. Cheers, Beck! diy
